I have never played DoTA, I do have a DoTA2 account but only play it on occasion.
What roles do you play in HoN?
I pride myself on being able to play any role asked of me and being versatile. On my competitive team I've played every single role in the tournaments we've participated in from hard carry to hard support to ganker to jungler.
What programs do you use?
Xsplit for broadcasting, iTunes for music (sometimes Pandora as well), Google Chrome for Browser, Ventrilo / Skype for communication, and obviously Heroes of Newerth to play HoN.
