So I'm finally here, streaming for you. If things go well, I'll get the record too. So here are some questions that you might ask. I'll take you through the answers; that is my task.
Huh?
Q: Who are you? What games do you play?
A: I'm the leader of this stream; you know me well. I'm finally back to speedrun (or fail). I'll play random games in short spurts, but mostly DK64 so much that it hurts. Many other N64 and GC games too. Tune in daily and you may see something new!
Okay, in all seriousness, DK64 is the primary game I stream, but definitely not the only one. Most games I stream I will either be speedrunning, racing, or doing a challenge. Some other games you might see me do (non-exhaustive): Banjo Kazooie, Baten Kaitos: Origins, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, My Stop Smoking Coach with Allen Carr's EasyWay, and more.
Q: What are you doing at the start? Why didn't you reset your timer?
A: This is part of a trick called the Funky's Weapon Glitch (FWG) or Intro Story Glitch (ISG). I really couldn't tell you exactly how it works, but the outcome is that you get all moves from battle mode on your file. This includes guns, sniper sight, homing ammo, and simian slam. My method of entering and exiting the file during the file saves 10 seconds over the traditional strategy, at the cost of many people spamming my chat asking me why I didn't reset my timer when I quit.
Q: I see other speedrunners use the Japanese version of their games. Why don't you?
A: DK64 is one of the rare games where the Japanese version is actually slower than the English version. The tricks 'Swim Through Vertical Walls' and 'Swim Through Shores' do not work on the Japanese version. Furthermore, although text is much faster, you can't skip text completely like you can in the US version. This doesn't cost as much time as you would think, but it is still a notable disadvantage.
Note however that Japanese runners do use the in-game cheats from the Mystery menu, which save somewhere between 1-2 minutes.
Q: How did you float in the air?
A: Because I'm quick and nimble when I need to be. Also it is a glitch called "Moonkicking", activated by doing an aerial attack into a steep slope and then immediately kicking with DK. Or, if I don't feel like explaining, it is gameshark.
Q: What's the world record for DK64?
A: Check my splits.
Q: Is this the run?
A: Probably not, I lose a large portion of my runs to the trick to enter Aztec early, roughly 12:30-13 minutes in.
Q: What should we do if your stream goes down?
A: Spam the chat with PANIC! and CALL SPOOKY! and it might come back up faster.
Q: Why do you speedrun DK64?
A: Because it is glitchy, and I found some of the tricks used in the run. If DK64 didn't have so many tricks, I would never play it. On a similar note, I will never do a glitchless DK64 run.
Q: Do 101%!
A: Maybe eventually. By which I mean absolutely not.
Q: What about 100%?
A: Get out.
