Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: When will I receive my ad revenue?

Ad revenue for each month is paid 45 days after the end of that month (e.g., August revenue is paid on the 15th of October). If you have not accumulated $100 of ad revenue in the month, however, the balance will be carried over to the next month and you will receive a check when you have accumulated at least $100.
  • Q: Why do I have to wait so long before I get paid?

After each month of streaming we delay sending out payments to broadcasters for a few weeks as a buffer time to confirm we have received payment from our advertising partners and all analytics are accurate.
  • Q: What is the difference between preroll ads and regular ads?

Preroll ads begin play as each viewer loads your stream, before they can begin viewing your content. Normal ads are ads which you control and play through the Broadcaster Dashboard and can be played at any time for all viewers currently watching a channel.
  • Q: Can Twitch pay me through PayPal or check?

Revenue earned can be sent through PayPal or a USD check in the mail. Visit your Settings Page to update your preference.
  • Q: How can I see how much I have made so far?

You can see your estimated ad revenue (as well as average concurrent viewers and total views per day) on the Partnership tab in your Broadcaster Dashboard. Estimated ad revenue may change slightly for 24 hours after a broadcast as exact numbers are processed.
  • Q: I have not been paid on time. Who can I ask about this?

Please email partner support if you believe you have not received a scheduled payment. Keep in mind that we send out payments 45 days after the close of the month (e.g., August revenue is paid on October 15th), and if you have earned less than $100 of revenue, it will not be sent but carried over to the next month.
  • Q: Will I be able to block certain advertisements?

Yes. We acknowledge that you may have sponsorship obligations with certain companies, and we do have the infrastructure to make sure you are always in good standing with regards to which advertisements will be shown through your stream.
  • Q: Do you have any tips on how I could increase and maximize the money I make from streaming?

Aside from increasing the popularity of your stream through your social media and other promotional outlets, the best way to optimize your revenue is to remember to play ads. We recommend playing 3-4 ads per hour.
  • Q: Is there a limit to the number of commercials I can play?

No. Commercials are not limited in any way: feel free to play commercials as frequently or infrequently as you like. Having complete control over commercial timing will allow you to make sure viewers do not miss any awesome content by playing them at opportune times—play a commercial and go grab a drink! Keep in mind, however, that an excess number of commercials will reduce the quality of the viewer experience.
  • Q: Is the revenue displayed in analytics the amount I have to split with Twitch or the amount I have earned?

The analytics page on your account shows you exactly how much money YOU have earned through streaming.
