Derived from the Hindi word, this Indian term is used to describe a sport that tests the ability of competitors to negotiate a pre-designed route with complex design.
Over the years Ken has developed a long and reputable history in the world of action sports, not only as a passionate and accomplished skateboarder, snowboarder and motocross rider, but also as the co-founder of one of action sports most successful companies, DC Shoes. Ken has been an integral part of DC since co-founding the company in 1993. With partner Damon Way, Ken began DC Shoes with a revolutionary philosophy for the skateboarding shoe market: skateboarders were athletes and needed shoes with athletic performance features. DC was acquired by Quiksilver, Inc., in May, 2004, making it part of a nearly billion action sports family. Block now serves as Chief Brand Officer where he oversees the DC brand, look and feel in all its efforts.
In 2005, Ken made his Rally debut and his success on the Rally circuit is not a surprise for those who know this Southern California native. Growing up in the emerging action sports Mecca of Southern California, Ken Block has always been a quick study. In addition to his accomplishing racing career, Ken has gained worldwide notoriety for his exploits outside the track, having successfully jumped his rally car 171ft for Discovery Channel's popular "Stunt Junkies" show in 2006. Then in 2007, for a segment in DC Shoes best selling Mtn. Lab DVD series, Block slid and jumped his rally car in the snow with pro-snowboarders at New Zealand's SnowPark landing him a cover shot on Snowboarder Magazine. Most recently, , Ken has been the driving force behind Gymkhana’s surge into the mainstream with his Gymkhana and Gymkhana 2.0 videos producing more than 80 million views across the Internet!!!
