For clarification: The category in which you collect all dragon coins and moons is now known as "96 Exits, All Dragon Coins, All Moons." A short explanation of why: the category is relatively new and needed a name, so we (we being those who were routing it, playing it initially) used 100% for a while. It was a nice, short name that seemed to summarize the category well. While there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the name itself (and in fact, many players started to use it colloquially to refer to the category), the problem is that it collides with a synonym for 96 Exit; both the Japanese RTA wiki and SDA use 100% and 96 Exit interchangeably. Thus, we no longer call it 100%. Spread the news, kids! 96 Exit was always 100%.

Consider DC&M to be an extension of 96 Exit. It has all of the standard rules that 96 Exit has (clear every stage, some stages have 2 Exits and both must be obtained in those cases, don't orb, etc), but it adds on the acquisition of Dragon Coins and Moons. This category appeals to me for several reasons: it is fairly new and routing is in a youthful stage, it eliminates a lot of the mindless caping that 96 Exit has, and it gives SMW a collection category like so many other games already enjoy.

In stages that have Dragon Coins, you must obtain 5 of them (thereby getting the 1UP and despawning the coins in future visits to the level). Some stages have more than 5 coins. On these stages, any 5 Dragon Coins will do. Chocolate Secret is an odd exception and has 1 Dragon Coin. This coin is grabbed anyway because it is in such a blatant place that you won't miss it anyway.

The stages that have no Dragon Coins are:
All Fortresses
All Switch Palaces
Castles 1-4 and 6
Star World 2-5
Back Door/Front Door
Choco-Ghost House
Donut Ghost House
Donut Secret House
Forest of Illusion 1
Valley of Bowser 4

An interesting thing to note is that if you grab a moon and die, the moon will still be considered obtained. With Dragon Coins, this is only the case if you grab 5 of them. Thus, if you hit a midway point and then die without having obtained 5 Dragon Coins, you have to work your way backwards through the level to once again obtain the ones you had.

Another interesting anecdote is that duping Yoshi Wings won't do you any good in this category. Though you can get Dragon Coins in the sky, the game only associates sky coins with a stage if there was an actual Yoshi Wing block embedded in the stage (i.e. the sky portion was planned for that stage).
